Sori destroying the inflorescence (only the rachis remaining), covered by an olivaceous brown powdery mass of spores mixed with ramifying irregular fibres of host origin.

Spores globose, ovoid, ellipsoidal to slightly irregular, 2.5–4.5 (–5) × 2.5–3.5 µm, light olivaceous brown, smooth.

Spore germination resulting in 1-septate basidia c. 6 µm long.
