Help

PaDIL is designed to quickly and easily help recognise pest species of concern to plant health in Australia.

You can download a PaDIL User Guide HERE

To use PaDIL, choose from the following options:

Open View Pests

Any of these options will return the full list of PaDIL entries matching your search.

Use Keyword Search

Enter any keyword that may help find your pest. It may be the name of a fruit (e.g. Guava), the name of a group of pests (e.g. Auger Beetle) or the name of a country or continent (e.g. Vietnam or Asia). You can submit a two word search by placing both words inside commas (eg. “New Zealand”).

Use the Advanced Search

Here you can select from a range of topics that may help you find your pests.

For example, select ‘Flies’ that are pests in ‘Horticulture’ in particular on ‘Fresh Vegetables’ that occur in ‘South-east Asia’.

Any of these methods will produce a PEST SPECIES LIST of one or more pest species.

From this list a range of high quality images for each pest can be explored. You can also find information on the taxonomy of the species, its distribution and hosts, useful web links and a reference list for the species.

Entries of interest can be emailed to friends or colleagues from within the PaDIL webpage. Your email will send a URL that not only directs the recipient to the PaDIL website but also replicates the query made to find that particular page. (This feature is known as a ‘breadcrumb’ trail).
