Adult

Colour reddish-brown to nearly black. Antennal club not strongly abrupt, segment 10 not or barely broader than long, 11 as long or longer than broad. Holarctic and Oriental species. Externally, similar to Cortinicara hirtalis.

Male

Apex of Aedeagus subject to variation; normally clearly nippled, but can be barely apparent. Whole apical half of the aedeagus may be quite broadly curved in some specimens and not so even in others.
