Large cockroach, 25-29 mm long; dark or deep red-brown, deep red on ventral surface of abdomen, legs and thinner parts of integument; tegmina fused basally to mesonotum, small, pointed, reaching hind edge of mesonotum, hind wings absent; male suranal plate trapezoidal, hind edge slightly but variably set with long setae; subgenital plate with hind edge straight, set with fine setae; cerci rigid, pointed, joints scarcely distinguishable, flat and smooth dorsally, convex ventrally, fine spinules on edges and ventrally, tipes pale; female suranal plate truncate, hind edge slightly concave.
