Widespread throughout Asia, Europe and the USA. Also present in Canada, Algeria Morocco and Tunisia.

Potential distribution in Australia

Studies indicate that L. dispar has the potential to colonise all southern regions of mainland Australia. The limits to the predicted distribution are dry conditions towards inland and high moisture in southwest Tasmania (Matsuki et al, 2001).
