Description

Citrus species are the main hosts of economic importance, but it also occurs commonly on a wide range of other crops, particularly fruit trees including avocado, banana, cashews, coffee, grape and guava.  It damages citrus by sucking nutrients from foliage which weakens the plants. Citrus blackflies excrete honeydew on which sooty molds develop, severely impairing leaf respiration and photosynthesis.
