Two species of Leucania can be distinguished as:

L. stenographus has the ground colour of forewing lighter than in L. loreyi; the two species have similar wing shape but the forewing of L. stenographus is slightly narrower distally; dark scales, if present along the veins of the hind wing are paler in L. stenographus  than L. loreyi and the terminal dark spots between the veins are more prominent in L. stenographus than L. loreyi.

It is best compare both species to discern these differences.
