Diagnostic Notes
The tribe Bostrichini is characterised by:

- First and second antennal club segments not cup-shaped, more or less compressed laterally or flabellate

- Hind coxal cavities completely or incompletelty margined by a sharp raised ridge along the anterior margin of the first visible abdominal sternite.

The genus Bostrychoplites has 15 known species and is characterised by:

- Head capsule deeply and transversely constricted behind the eyes

- Gena without a large tooth below each eye.
