Apterous viviparous female: body 1.7-3.1 mm in length, green on primary hosts. Colour variable on secondary hosts, yellow or pink.  Dark transverse bands on the outer parts of each abdominal segment. Tips of antennae and siphunculi are dark. Third antennal segment with 3-36 secondary rhinaria. Hind legs are long and slender. Siphunculi at least as long or longer than the cauda. Cauda is finger-shaped, not constricted, with 7 hairs and is the same colour as basal part of siphunculi.

Alate viviparous female: body 1.9-3.2 mm.  Abdomen with intersegmental sclerites or cross bars interrupted in the middle, marginal, antesiphuncular and postsiphuncular sclerites, and occasionally also dark spots at bases of spinal hairs. Antennal segment III with 32-66 secondary rhinaria. Antennae about as long as body.  Dark  antennae, legs, siphunculi and cauda.

Distinguishing features: Body pale green to apple green and shiny. Siphunculi long and tapering slightly, spiracular openings large and circular.

Related species: The genus Nasonovia comprises about 45 species, most of which are from North America.

Life history: Heteroecious and holocyclic
