Description

Occur in agricultural areas, coastland, disturbed areas, natural forest, planted forests, range/grasslands, riparian zones, scrub/shrublands, urban areas. Most prevalent in insolated areas.
Omnivorous ground nesting ant, preferring sunny, open areas or partially shaded ones.  In a field nests may be moved to the perimeter of the crop when the canopy closes and shades the ground (ISSG Global Invasive Species Database)

Ants may affect fruit/pods, growing points, seeds, stems, vegetative organs and the whole plant (CABI 2004).
