Length 3.4-5.3 mm. Pronotum less smoothly and evenly rounded at sides than S. cylindricollis, slightly more contracted at base than anteriad and broadest behind middle.  Elytra with clear, complete stripes, not tessellated or mottled. Patch of pale scales at shoulders less conspicuous.  Sides of elytra behind and at apex with lines of minute, whitish, semi-recumbent setae. Head broader, width across eyes greater than maximum width of a single elytron, by 15-25%. Median lobe rounded at apex, without angular incisions.  (Morris 1997)
