Distinguishing features: Live apterae variable in colour, shiny, white, greenish to yellow or even dull greenish brown; antennal segments, tibiae, and siphunculi with dark brown apices. Antennal tubercles spinulose with inner margins parallel-sided; siphuncles long and tapering from base to apical flange.
Related species: About 50 species are placed in the genus Aulacorthum, mainly from the eastern Palaearctic and Oriental Regions.
Life history: Monoecious, but both anholocyclic and holocyclic with males usually apterous, and the unusual ability to overwinter as eggs on various host plants.
